Architectural Requests

Before starting any exterior construction or landscaping project, homeowners in the California Riviera must submit their plans to the Association for approval, as required by the community's Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions (CC&Rs).
Approval is required for projects such as:
  • Demolishing existing homes or structures
  • Building a new home
  • Exterior remodels or additions (including changes to windows, doors, railings, skylights, air conditioning, or solar equipment)
  • Roof replacements
  • Landscaping or hardscaping changes, including pools, spas, fireplaces, fences, walls, gates, hedges, walkways, driveways, mailbox structures, and any improvements in the City-owned parkway area between the street and your property line.

Submission Process:
Step 1: Complete the architectural application and plans
Step 2: Pre-Review & Fees Due
Step 3: CRHOA Architect Review
Step 4: 1st Committee Review*
If plan corrections are requested after the first committee review, a secondary review is required.
Step 5: Approval or Denial
Determination letter is sent to the submitter
Approved architectural plans are sent to the submitter by email and delivered to the home property address
Guidelines & Forms:
The submission process can take 3-4 months, depending on the construction plans, review meetings, and fees being paid.
